A highly detailed Sterling silver pendant inspired by the biblical heroine Judith: a feminine hand in a lace cuff, gripping a dagger, a Star of David ring on her finger.
The Story
The Assyrian general Holofernes had the town of Bethulia under siege. The town was ready to surrender. One widow wasn’t.
Judith walked into the enemy camp, won the general’s trust, and waited. When he lay drunk in his tent, she took his personal weapon and cut off his head. By morning, his army had fled.
Painters from Caravaggio to Artemisia Gentileschi showed her holding the severed head. I toned down the gore and kept only what matters: her hand, the blade, and the star of her identity.
Lace on the wrist. Steel in the grip.
For anyone drawn to Gothic Judaica, the Book of Judith, or women who don’t wait to be rescued.
