The Delicate Dilemma
Share
If you caught my last post about Shalev’s ring, you know we were dealing with raw Madagascar emeralds and silver bands that looked like they were forged in the roots of an ancient forest. It was rugged and right in my wheelhouse.
Then we get to Leah.
Leah and Shalev are the definition of complementary opposites. While Shalev wanted something that felt like a prehistoric artifact, Leah wanted something delicate, enchanted, and light. She gave me that beautiful, terrifying gift every artist dreams of (and dreads): full artistic freedom. The catch? She wanted it to feel delicate.
Now, if you’ve seen my other work here at RBZ, you know "delicate" isn't exactly the first word people use. Badass? Sure. Gothic? Definitely. Dark? Usually. But I’m not one to back down from a challenge. I decided to kick my comfort zone’s door down and see what happens when a goldsmith who's a complete metalhead tries his hand at a fairytale.
Enchanted Vintage
I wanted Leah’s ring to look like something found in a velvet-lined box from 1920, but with a magical twist. We went with solid 14K gold, and a stunning, brilliant-cut diamond, a classic sparkle to act as the heart of the piece.
Instead of my usual heavy textures, I sculpted flowing, floral-inspired scrollwork that wraps around the stone like gold vines. It’s light, airy, and feels like it was pulled straight out of a vintage era that never quite ended.
Stepping Out of the Shadows
I’ll be honest, I’m pretty damn proud of this one. It’s a 180-degree turn from Shalev’s ring, yet when you see them together, they just make sense. His is the earth - hers is the light.
Designing this reminded me why I love what I do. Sometimes you have to put down the "dark and heavy" hammer and pick up the "fine and flowy" tweezers to truly capture a person's spirit in metal. Leah now has a piece that is uniquely hers, born from a mix of vintage elegance and a little bit of RBZ.
Ready to tell your story as a couple? Whether you want something rugged and ancient or delicate and enchanted, I’m here to translate your vibe into a piece of jewelry that actually means something.
