World's smallest Band-Aid?

World's smallest Band-Aid?

Usually, my days consist of coffee, metal dust, walking my dog Ozzy, and trying to convince my tools to cooperate. People come to me for the unrestrained vibe - bold, anatomical, and gritty. But every once in a while, a call comes in that makes me put down the torch and take a second to breathe.

I received a message from a mother whose newborn son was born with a heart defect. He was heading into a major, risky surgery, and she wanted something to hold onto, literally. She loved my anatomical heart pendant, but she asked if I could add one specific detail: a Band-Aid.

Now, I’ve made a lot of things, but silver medical supplies for organs was a first.

My workshop isn’t exactly a sentimental zone. It’s loud, it’s messy, and I usually have heavy metal playing in the background. But as I started fabricating that tiny Band-Aid, things got a little quiet. There’s something incredibly humbling about shrinking a mother’s hope and a child’s bravery into a piece of Sterling silver that fits on a fingernail.

The process was a lesson in patience. Have you ever tried to solder something the size of a grain of rice onto a detailed heart without melting the whole thing into a silver puddle? It’s a great way to test your blood pressure.

But when it finally clicked into place, that little textured bandage sitting right where the "fix" needed to be - it felt right. It transformed the piece from a biological study into a badge of courage.

Jewelry is often seen as an accessory, something to match an outfit. But for this mom, it was a piece of armor. It was a physical reminder that hearts can be mended, and that even the biggest scars start with a single stitch (or a tiny silver band-aid).

To the brave little guy heading into surgery: you’ve got this. And to the mom: thank you for trusting me with a piece of your heart.

Looking for something that tells your story? I love the challenge of a custom piece. Whether it’s a symbol of a struggle, a triumph, or just something weird you’ve always wanted to wear, let’s make it happen.
