The Cupid and the Lyre

The Cupid and the Lyre

One of the greatest compliments an artisan can receive is the "follow-up" request.
After completing a rugged, custom Viking dog tag for a client’s son, she reached out with a request of a different nature. Inspired by the craftsmanship and soul of her son’s piece, she wanted something uniquely hers - a symbol that resonated with her own story.

A One-of-a-Kind Muse

The result is this OOAK (One-of-a-Kind) Cupid with a Lyre pendant. Meticulously carved and cast in solid sterling silver, this piece is a study in classical romance. Unlike mass-produced charms, this Cupid possesses a weight and a personality that only hand-finished jewelry can convey.

I leaned into the fine details: the soft curve of the wings, the focused expression as he strikes the lyre, and the intentional oxidation that settles into the recessed silver. This darkening process doesn't just add contrast; it gives the pendant a "found artifact" quality, as if it were plucked from a Renaissance hidden chamber.

Wearable Art with a Heart

Every piece that leaves my studio carries a piece of the story that inspired it. This Cupid wasn't just made; he was composed. He stands as a reminder that jewelry is most powerful when it is personal - transitioning from a mother's admiration for her son’s gift to a cherished heirloom of her own.
