Representing the 09

Representing the 09

We’ve all seen the basic area code merch - the cheap t-shirts, the tacky keychains. But Jonathan isn't exactly a basic keychain kind of guy. When he approached me about a custom piece to represent his roots, he had one specific requirement: make it fancy.

He wanted to rep the 09 (Herzliya city, for those not in the local loop), but he wanted it to look like it belonged in a boardroom, not a souvenir shop.

Not Just Numbers

As a jeweler, I love when a client comes in with a specific tweak that levels up the entire project. Jonathan didn't just want a silver ring, he also wanted a 14K gold frame around the face.

Soldering a 14K gold frame onto a Sterling signet instantly elevates the piece from cool streetwear to heirloom status. It provides a sharp, high-contrast border for the digits, making the whole design look like it was framed in a gallery.

The real star of the show, though? The dark green enamel.

This isn't that plastic resin you see on cheap jewelry. This is fused glass pigment. It’s a painstaking process, but it results in a deep, vitreous finish that looks like a dark emerald sea. It makes those silver numbers pop in a way that’s impossible to ignore.

The Finishing Touches

If you flip the ring over, you’ll see the RBZ hallmark alongside the 925 & 14K stamps.
I’m a firm believer that the inside of a ring should look as clean as the outside.

The result is a piece that feels like an heirloom but represents a modern identity. It’s rugged enough for daily wear but refined enough for whatever urban life throws at him. Jonathan got his fancy area code ring, and I got to play with some of my favorite materials. Everyone wins.

What do you think? Does your area code deserve a 14K treatment?
