Metatron's Lotus flower

Metatron's Lotus flower

So, Alon reaches out to me with what sounds like a straightforward mission: "I want a simple lotus flower pendant."

Now, in theory, I know what "simple" means. But in practice? My brain usually has other plans. As I started sketching, I kept thinking about something Alon had mentioned - that he was going through a particularly heavy, difficult season of life.

Suddenly, the simple request felt a little too quiet. The spark was lit, and before I knew it, I was ditching the minimalist vibes and heading straight into "Talisman Territory." I've known Alon before, so I felt this persistent itch to build him something that didn't just look good, but actually carried some meaningful, energetic aura.

Layering the Magic

I decided to treat this piece like a spiritual suit of armor. I kept the Lotus at the center, of course, the ultimate symbol of resilience and the ability to bloom even when the water is murky. But then I also added:

Koi Fish: I carved these onto the bail (the part the chain slides through). In Japanese culture, the Koi is the patron saint of luck and good fortune. I figured if you're navigating a rough patch, a little extra luck on your shoulders can’t hurt.

Metatron’s Cube: This is where it gets geeky and mystical. I integrated this intricate geometric symbol into the heart of the flower. In Jewish mysticism, Metatron is the guardian archangel. It’s a symbol of protection and the bridge between the earthly and the divine.

The Chills Moment

I finished the piece, feeling I got the balance perfectly right. But the real "Aha!" moment didn't happen until I showed it to Alon.

That’s when he told me. Alon was one of the survivors of the Nova music festival attack on October 7th.

I’m not usually one to get all excited about coincidence, but sitting there looking at this pendant - a symbol of rebirth, guarded by an archangel, and swimming with luck, it blew my mind, and felt like the universe had been back-seat driving my design the whole time.

This wasn’t just a custom order anymore. It was a symbol of his new life, a physical marker of the fact that he’s still here, still blooming, and still protected.

Alon, thank you for the privilege of making this for you. It’s pieces like this that remind me why I pick up the tools every morning 🖤
