Ink into Silver

Let’s be real, not everyone can pull off a ring that doubles as a blunt-force object. But for those who can? It’s more than a piece of jewelry - it’s a declaration.
When you have a massive canvas sitting on your finger, you can go absolutely wild with the details. That wild zone is exactly where I’m happiest working. So, when a client reached out wanting a big ring, I was all in.
The Copy-Paste Trap
Initially, he pointed at a ring I’d already made and said, "I want exactly that."
Now, I could have just said "sure" and create it again. It’s easier, right? But if you’re coming to RBZ, you’re not looking for a carbon copy. I told him we needed to find his story, not someone else's.
We started looking at his tattoos for inspiration, and that’s when the spark hit. A whole new concept was born: Roses and Barbed Wire.
Beauty, Pain, and a Very Large Rock
The idea was to capture that classic contrast - the tenderness of a blooming rose against the cold, sharp reality of barbed wire. It’s beauty and pain, strength and vulnerability, all wrapped around a finger.
The centerpiece? A huge, vibrant Ruby. To hold a stone that size, the silverwork had to be substantial. I spent hours sculpting the roses to look like they were struggling through the wire.
I even added inner barbed wire decorations under the gemstone. It’s a detail only the wearer really knows is there, but it makes the piece feel complete.
The Final Verdict
Grinding and polishing this beast took some serious time, but seeing that deep red stone set against the darkened, oxidized silver made every second worth it. It’s bold, and it’s 100% unique to the man wearing it.
Is it "too much"? Maybe for some. But for him? It’s just right.
