From a Napkin Sketch to a Beach Proposal

From a Napkin Sketch to a Beach Proposal

When Yam first reached out to me with a sketch, I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical sparkly rock on a thin band situation. The drawing was raw - labeled with Tulip, Jasmine, and Stem. It was organic, personal, and beautiful in its simplicity.

In the world of fine jewelry, floral usually means delicate, dainty, and maybe pink. But this is RBZ. When I see a request for flowers, I automatically wander into the textures I get to experiment with and how to make them look as natural as possible.

Growing Silver Flowers

The challenge was to take those two specific flowers - the Tulip and the Jasmine - and weave them into a single, cohesive piece that felt like it grew right out of the metal.

Using a mix of digital sculpting and traditional goldsmithing, I worked on getting the stem of the ring to have that perfect, weathered texture. I wanted it to look like it had been pulled from the earth, not a factory. We went with oxidized silver to give it that signature dark aesthetic, making the details of the petals pop against the deep, recessed shadows.

The Proposal

Then came the video.

Watching Yam drop to one knee on the beach was a trip. He gave this incredibly moving speech about being an outsider everywhere he went until he met Yael. That hit home for me. My brand has always been for the people who don’t quite fit the "standard" mold - the metalheads, the goths, the artists, and the ones who find beauty in the unconventional.

Final Thoughts

Yael and Yam, I’m seriously honored you chose me to be the one-man army behind this piece. Seeing my work play a part in a moment that real is exactly why I spend hours covered in silver dust.

Congratulations 🖤
